At this point TEV quotes the wording of the prayer, though Hebrew introduces the prayer by “and he said,” which can, of course, be rendered by some such expression as “saying” or “as follows.” The form of TEV obscures the fact that there is a change half-way through the verse from a statement about the Lord in the 3rd person to an acknowledgment of his help in the 2nd person. A similar change occurs in verse 7, but for the sake of clarity, TEV keeps to 2nd person throughout, as being appropriate
